Handicare 4000 Stairlift

Custom twin-rail with many options

The Handicare 4000 model, made by Savaria, is known for its exceptional fit for virtually any curves. The double-rail design is custom fabricated using our proprietary PS4D photo-measuring system. The rail fits close to the wall or railing of your staircase to maximize the space on your stairs. Great for spiral staircases, or for out-of-the-way parking of the lift at the top or bottom of your staircase. The 4000 also offers a range of seat styles, along with power features to make the lift even easier to use.

Custom fit – in just a few weeks

A stairlift built for smooth, unobtrusive operation

With our fast fabrication, we can produce your custom curved Handicare 4000 in as little as 2 weeks. There is no compromise on fit with the 4000 due to its twin-rail design that can be bent quite tightly to accommodate sharp turns, 90-degree parking, or narrow staircases. This results in more clearance on the stairs when the stairlift is not in use and a less obtrusive look on the stairs.

Standard features and finish

  1. The standard stairlift rail is painted in light grey with an off-white carriage and vanilla seat fabric.
  2. Control the stairlift with the toggle on the armrest.
  3. The seat, footrest, and arms fold up to keep the lift compact when not in use.
  4. Comes with two infrared remote controls which allow you to summon the chair from the top or bottom of the stairs.
  5. The Handicare 4000 is a rack and pinion drive that operates on battery power with built-in charging stations at the top and bottom of the rail. If there is a power failure, the stairlift will provide several up and down trips.

Additional Options

Add one or more power features to your Handicare 4000 for ease of use:

Power Footrest

A power folding footrest means you don’t need to bend down to fold or unfold the footrest.

Power Swivel

The power seat swivel turns the seat at the top landing using the toggle switch, rather than the manual seat swivel handle.

Power Hinge

A power folding hinge keeps the bottom landing area free of a tripping hazard if you have a doorway at the bottom of the stairs

Perch seat

See more the Perch seat if you have difficulty to fully sit on the chair due to knee or hip troubles.

5 Point harness

A five-point harness is available for added security while riding the chair.

Parking

Add 90- or 180-degree parking so your chair travels around the stair railing at the top, bottom or both landings. This provides a more spacious and safe area to get on and off the lift.

Consider a parking feature

Adding parking to your Handicare 4000 is a great way to keep the lift out of the way when no one is using it. It also provides a safe and open area for getting on and off the chair. Parking is a simple 90-or 180-degree bend made in the rail at time of ordering that allows the chair to travel around a railing at the top, bottom, or both landings.

Safety features

  • An obstacle sensor on the footrest and carriage stops the lift if it encounters an obstruction.
  • The seat swivels and locks for safe deboarding at the top of the stairs.
  • The footrest includes non-skid covering and the seat includes a retractable seat belt.
  • An overspeed brake ensures that the lift does not travel too fast when descending.
